PsyCop Briefs: Volume 1

PsyCop Briefs: Volume 1PsyCop Briefs: Volume 1 by Jordan Castillo Price

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vic is one of my favorite characters in the world. If he was a real person, I’d want to be his friend.

It was great hanging out with him again for a while. The stories were great, but I think I would have arranged them chronologically. I found it disconcerting to hop around in time, and it was hard to remember exactly what people knew or were doing. That’s why it didn’t get 5 stars.

Finally: Three cheers for a story with Uncle Leon and his ghostly hand!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Undercover Angel is surprised when his ex, Charles, is part of his extraction team. They split two years earlier under bad circumstances. And they’re still angry. This does not stop them from having sex. Lots of volatile sex.

Angel is also being stalked.

But the real dilemma is whether or not he and Charles have a chance at love.

A Littlebit of Joy (Renovating Love)

A Littlebit of Joy (Renovating Love)A Littlebit of Joy by Mathew Ortiz

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Guy sees hot, straight coworker and falls in lust. Coworker seems kind of interested. BUT HE’S STRAIGHT! Angst. Sex. More angst. Reconciliation. Hearts and flowers.

Typos. Repetition. Sentences thrown in to fix plot holes. A sudden announcement that Straight Guy “fooled around” with guys in high school and college but never thought another thing of it.

Tied Up in Knots (Marshals Book 3)

Tied Up in Knots (Marshals Book 3)Tied Up in Knots by Mary Calmes

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I spent the last couple days rereading Marshals 1 and 2, so I could remember exactly what was going on in the story.

Miro and Ian are still very much in love, but there’s tension between them because Ian can be called away in the reserves at any time. Add in past events from both their lives and freaking Hartley, who will not stay locked up, and the tension rackets up even more.

But it’s a good ending.

*******SPOILER ********

Chickie is fine.

David, Renewed

David, RenewedDavid, Renewed by Diana Copland

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

David walks in on his ex and another guy, leaves, and impulsively buys a house. The house, though beautiful, needs fixing. Enter hot handyman Jackson and the beginning of a great relationship.

I like that Jackson subcontracts things like plumbing and painting to his own friends, who are also gay. And I hope the next book sees the friends working together in their own larger, group business.

And I really have to look and see if there’s a gay yellow pages or something.
